About Me

Psychology is not about fixing you. It is about meeting yourself

Hello! My name is Roman Horbachov. I am a counselling psychologist, the creator of the “That Same Psychologist” project, and a member of the Ukrainian Association of Positive Psychotherapy. I hold a Master’s degree in Psychology with a specialisation in Clinical Psychology with the Fundamentals of Psychotherapy. In my work, I use the method of Positive Psychotherapy developed by Nossrat Peseschkian. In Ukraine, Positive Psychotherapy is included in the official list of evidence-based psychotherapy methods approved by Order No. 2118 of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine dated 13 December 2023. During consultations, we can explore not only what hurts right now, but also how a person relates to their emotions, needs, closeness, responsibility, expectations, and personal boundaries.

It is important to me to create a non-judgemental space where you can speak honestly — about anxiety, confusion, exhaustion, shame, relationships, inner conflicts, and the desire to understand yourself more deeply.

My approach

I do not treat a person as a “broken mechanism”

In psychological work, it is important to me to see not only the problem, but the whole person: their experience, personal history, inner conflicts, defence mechanisms, needs, and resources that may have remained unnoticed for a long time.

Positive Psychotherapy views difficult states not as a “malfunction”, but as a signal. Anxiety, exhaustion, resentment, shame, confusion, or tension often point to deeper inner processes.

Values

What matters to me in my work

A consultation is not a place for judgement or quick advice. It is a space where you can pause, listen to yourself, and gradually see the situation more clearly.

01

Without judgement

I do not judge a person by their symptoms, fears, mistakes, or recurring patterns.

02

Depth instead of templates

Rather than offering universal answers, I work together with each person to understand what their experience means specifically for them.

03

Respect for your pace

Sometimes a person needs time to build trust, formulate their concerns, and begin speaking more honestly.

Sometimes it is enough to pause and listen to yourself
How I work

The focus is not advice, but understanding

In my work, I help people see more clearly how their emotions, behaviour, bodily tension, relationships, childhood experiences, and inner beliefs are connected.

People often come with a specific concern: anxiety, conflict, exhaustion, self-doubt, or a difficult choice. As the work progresses, a deeper issue often becomes visible.

We clarify your concerns

Your concerns can begin to take shape during the first meeting.

We explore recurring patterns

It is important to notice how the same situation repeats across different areas of life.

We build inner support

The aim is to understand yourself better and have greater freedom in choosing how you respond.

What you can come with

Topics I work with

You can seek support when you feel that something keeps repeating, is exhausting you, or needs careful understanding.

01

Anxiety and fears

Persistent tension, fear of the future, intrusive thoughts, or bodily tension.

02

Relationships

Conflict, difficulty with closeness, or recurring patterns in relationships.

03

Self-esteem

Self-doubt, self-criticism, or the feeling that “something is wrong with me”.

04

Emotions

Anger, guilt, shame, resentment, apathy, or emotional exhaustion.

05

Life crises

Loss of meaning, difficult choices, adapting to change, or feeling stuck.

06

Inner conflicts

When one part of you wants change while another part is afraid.

A warm space to pause and find inner support
The first step

You do not need to come with an answer — a question is enough

What you have right now is enough: tension, confusion, exhaustion, a recurring situation, or the wish to understand yourself better.
